Predators
Over the years of our activities, we have saved hundreds of lives of innocent bears, wolves and other predators from the ranks of carnivores and birds, hunted due to a lack of awareness of the complex functioning of nature, due to ignoring the basic principles of coexistence with carnivores and, last but not least, for money.
Since June 1, 2021, after decades of awareness-raising, negotiations and work in the field and at the European level, year-round protection of the predatory wolf has been in effect in Slovakia. However, in 2025, the Ministry of the Environment abolished it, so we are trying to protect them again. More at https://vlci.wolf.sk/en/.
Since 2008, we have filed hundreds of lawsuits in court for the illegal shooting of protected bears as part of regulated hunting. The courts have ruled in our favor, confirming the incorrect procedure of the Ministry of the Environment in granting exemptions. By emphasizing prevention and education, and with the help of these lawsuits, we have changed the approach of the Ministry and officials to bear protection in our country.
